Announcements This Week:

Memorial Mass for Betty Dixon

There will be a memorial mass and commendation for longtime Ascension parishioner Betty Dixon, on Saturday the 16th at 11am.

Rectory Welcome Back Potluck BBQ

Join us Sunday, September 17th at the rectory from 3pm to 6 pm for a welcome back potluck BBQ.  This is the rescheduled BBQ from last week. This year it is being held jointly with the folks of St. Alban the Martyr. Bring a lawn chair (if you have one) and a dish of your choice.

Tuesday Club

Please join us this Tuesday morning at 11:00am for mass, bible study and lunch.  Please bring a brown bag lunch with you.  We will be studying “The Path” which is an abbreviated version of the Bible. Copies are available for $20.

Acolyte Meeting

We will have an acolyte meeting on Sunday, September 17th following the 10:30am service.  This meeting is for all current acolytes.

 

The Feast of St. Michael & All Angels

Please join us on Friday, September 29th  at 7:00 pm for Evensong & Benediction which will include a blessing of the police and first responders.   A free Octoberfest reception will immediately follow in the Parish Hall. We are looking for a few extra sponsors to help with the expenses for this event. If you would like to contribute, please speak with Fr. Kevin or Fr. Matt.

The Shop News

The Shop is looking for hand crafted items. Please contact Judi Broadhurst at idigmick@aol.com

Please note that The Shop will be closed for the summer and will reopen in the fall.

Friendship Fair 2023

Friday, October 13th & Saturday, October 14th

 Register Early and Skip The Line!

Please visit https://ff2023.givesmart.com to securely register for the event. Once registered, you can purchase raffle and Parishioner Supper tickets as well as skip the line when you arrive at the Fair.  This is also how you will bid on items for the silent auction. Also, if you add a credit card to your registration you'll be able to shop seamlessly throughout the event. 

 

Parishioner Supper

On Saturday, Oct 14th at 6:15 pm we will hold The Parishioner Supper.  The Supper is for all Ascension Parishioners, Family & Friends who helped make this year’s Friendship Fair possible.  Please go to https://ff2023.givesmart.com and click on the "ITEMS" in the upper left corner.  There are two adult options (Beef Burgundy & Baked Ziti) and one kid options (Nuggets).  Please make your purchase by Monday, Oct 9th. Again, your personal and credit card data is safe and secure.

 

Department Chairs

On Tuesday, Sept 26th at 7pm we'll hold a Fair Department Chair meeting to discuss final plans for the fair. At that meeting we will also train you on how to accept credit cards. All department chairs must be trained prior to the fair. Before the training on the 26th, you will be sent a text message from GiveSmart to register as a Fair Volunteer. Upon receiving this text message, feel free to create your user name and password. Otherwise, we will finalize it at training on the 26th. Regardless, be on the lookout for this text message the week of Sept 18th.

 

Fair Volunteer Signup

Volunteers are needed to work at the fair.   Please sign up as soon as possible.  Even a few hours would be greatly appreciated. Questions? Please contact Judi Broadhurst at  idigmick@aol.com.

 

Friendship Fair Donations 2023

We are still continuing to accept donations for the Friendship Fair. Please bring in your donations as soon as possible but no later than Sunday, October 1st.  There are Donation Request guidelines copies at the back of the church or you may speak with Margaret. 

 

Auction

Furniture and other auction items will be accepted until September 17th.  Please speak with Bill Cooper before bringing in any items.

 

Raffle Baskets

As you enjoy the rest of the summer, we challenge you to let your imagination run wild with clever basket ideas. The Basket Challenge is based on parishioner generosity and good-natured fun! Here’s how to get started: 

            *pick a theme

            *plan the contents of your basket based on that theme

            *create the basket

            *wrap the basket in clear cellophane

            *list the contents & attach the list to the outside of the basket

            *bring your completed basket to the Parish Hall on Sunday, October 8th
