Father Kevin will be away this week, so Sunday’s service will be a lay-led Morning Prayer service.
Summer Schedule
Our Summer Schedule has begun with one service at 9:30am and will continue until Sept. 7th.
The Tuesday Club
The Tuesday Club is taking a summer break and will return in the fall.
St. John's ICare Foundation's Buy a Backpack Program- Due by Sunday, Aug. 10th
We are once again participating in the St. John's ICare Foundation's Back-to-School Wellness Event to provide school supplies for children in need. Please donate a minimum of $15 to purchase one backpack or you can be as generous as your budget permits. Our goal is to be a 3 "R's" Sponsor by collecting $1,000. The name of our church will be displayed on a sign at the distribution event in August and will also appear on sponsor banners, event-related print, and digital marketing material. Please place your donation of cash or a check made out to "The Church of the Ascension" in an envelope clearly marked "Backpacks". You can place it in the collection plate on Sundays, mail it to the church, or hand it directly to Judi Broadhurst. All donations need to be made by Sunday, August 10th. Thank you in advance for helping to give children the supplies that they need to begin a new school year successfully.
New Lending Library
Ascension now has a new miniature lending library in the front of the church. This project was the brainchild of Judi Broadhurst and was beautifully crafted by Arthur Snow. It is eye-catching and fun and we hope it gets lots of use.
Friendship Fair 2025 – Friday, October 17th & Saturday, October 18th
Donation Requests
You may bring in Fair donations which are in good condition – no cracks, chips or missing pieces and are clean. Items must be brought into the parish hall. Please see the ‘Donation Requests for Friendship Fair 2025 flyer. Thank you!
Fair Work Nights
Tuesday work nights will continue from 7 - 9 pm. Please bring medium-size cardboard packing boxes.
Mailing List
We are updating our Friendship Fair mailing list. If you have added any of the names and addresses of people that have moved or are no longer with us, please contact the parish office. Thank you.
Register Early and Skip The Line!
Please visit https://ff25.givesmart.com to securely register for the 2025 Friendship Fair. Once registered, you can purchase raffle and Parishioner Brunch tickets as well as skip the line when you arrive at the Fair. Also, if you add a credit card to your registration you'll be able to shop seamlessly throughout the event.

Parishioner Brunch
On Sunday, Oct 19th after 9:30 am Mass we will hold The Parishioner Brunch. The Brunch is for all Ascension Parishioners, Family & Friends who helped make this year’s Friendship Fair possible. Please go to https://ff25.givesmart.com and click on the "ITEMS" in the upper left corner. There is an adult option and a kid option. Please make your purchase by Friday, Oct 3rd. Again, your personal and credit card data is safe and secure.
Bishop Search Survey
As most of you know, Bishop Provenzano will be retiring soon and our diocese has entered the process of searching for and selecting a new bishop. The Diocesan Search Committee has just released a survey to the entire diocese to receive feedback on the state of the diocese and the qualities that are hoped for in our next bishop. This survey is open to everyone and I strongly encourage you to take some time and share your thoughts with the search committee. You may access the survey at the link below:
Looking Ahead
Our Summer schedule will continue until September 7th. On September 7th we will return to our regular schedule of 8am and 10:30am services. On Saturday, September 13th, Father Kevin and Father Keith are inviting both parishes to an island-themed welcome back party at the rectory. Mark your calendars!
