Joining our parish

The first step to becoming a member of this parish is just showing up! Attend a few services, meet some people at coffee hour, and sign up for our weekly newsletter. If Ascension feels like home to you, then we are happy to help you become a member.

Membership in this, or any church, begins by making a commitment to Christ through baptism. Baptism by immersion or sprinkling with water “In the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit” is considered valid regardless of one’s age or church denomination. If you have been previously baptized in a different Christian tradition, then there is no need to be baptized again. If you have not been previously baptized, and desire to take this step of faith, please speak with one of our priests. Baptisms can be arranged privately and at short notice. Classes are regularly offered for those wishing to explore the Christian faith, and private lessons can be arranged upon request.

If you have been previously baptised in a different Christian tradition (other than Episcopal) you may be Received or Confirmed in the Episcopal Church. Classes for Reception and Confirmation are taught regularly by Father Kevin. Please speak with him if you are interested in being Received or Confirmed.

If you have been previously baptised in an Episcopal Church, you may have your membership moved to our parish by a Letter of Transfer. Please speak with the Parish Administrator if you would like instructions on how to request a Letter of Transfer.

Once you have become a member, we do hope that your faith will lead you to taking an active role in the life of the parish. Whether through regular worship, attending educational programs or participating in outreach, your participation in our community helps to make our witness to the gospel that much stronger.
