Congratulations Fr. Matt
Our curate, Father Matthew Sanfilippo, has just begun full-time work as a chaplain at St. John’s Episcopal Hospital. Sadly, this means that Father Matt will no longer be at Ascension full-time. Fear not though! Father Matt is still going to be a part of the Ascension family and will become a Priest Associate and continue to serve here with some regularity. We will formally thank and congratulate Father Matt at our welcome back BBQ in September.
Virginia Raynor
We are sad to announce the death of former Ascension parishioner Virginia Raynor. Virginia has lived in Florida for some time, but she may be remembered by some of you. There will be a committal ceremony for Virginia at Greenfield Cemetery on Tuesday, August 6th at 2pm. Anyone who would like to attend is welcomed to do so.
Tuesday Club
The Tuesday Club will be taking a break for the month of August. Our gatherings will reconvene in September.
St. John’s ICare Foundation Buy a Backpack Program
We are once again participating in the St. John’s ICare Foundation’s Back-to-School Wellness Event to provide school supplies for children in need. Please donate a minimum of $15 to purchase one backpack or you can be as generous as your budget permits. Our goal is to be a Sponsor by collecting $1,000. The name of our church will be displayed on a sign at the distribution event in August and will also appear on sponsor banners, event-related print, and digital marketing material.
Please place your donation of cash or a check made out to: The Church of the Ascension in an envelope clearly marked “Backpacks”. You can place it in the collection plate on Sundays, mail it to the church, or hand it directly to Judi Broadhurst. All donations need to be made by Sunday, August 4th.

The shop is now closed for the summer. We will reopen in the Fall.
